New 'diet'

Arabelle here!

I'm starting a diet. Well, I started last week, and it's a calorie-counting diet. I'm using the Andriod app MyFitnessPal and it's freaking wonderful and so easy, you just type in the foods you had for breakfast/lunch/dinner/snacks and keep track of how long you work out/ what you did, and it counts the calories accordingly. You can actually scan the tags of the food you eat and it will pull up all the nutritional info about it for easier cataloging. Niftyyyyyyyy!!!!

ANYWAY I started out at 1200 a day, which is what the app suggested for me. Again, I tried this for two days. And I was absolutely STARVING. I went over both days. I was so zapped of energy I couldn't even walk as fast as I usually do, I was struggling to keep up with my friends.

Thusly, I upped my calorie limit to 1700 after some research.

For a teenage to early twenties female, anything below 1500 calories a day is considered STARVATION. I was literally starving myself. So screw that, quite frankly.

1700 is a good limit for me. I can still eat full meals and snacks, but I have to train myself to not overeat like I usually do. It's really just how to control my appetite, not about losing weight.

Granted, today I was home and my grandma made a traditional German meal (she's from Germany so duh) and I def ate my limit of calories in one meal. It's tough to even stay within 1700, but everyone has off days. Plus I work out four days a week, and I know that helps.

Come on the journey with me to a better appetite and a flat stomach! I'll post updates periodically.

THIS IS NOT ABOUT LOSING WEIGHT, IT'S ABOUT IMPROVING WHAT I ALREADY HAVE AND AM PROUD OF!! Please feel free to ask me for basic advice about dieting and exercise!
